Why I Teach
After a (hectic and sometimes unhealthy) chunk of time in the city of Boston, I finally decided life was unmanageable - work stress, lifestyle, all of it - it was time to make a major life change. This revelation came thanks to stopping drinking and embarking on a more steady and serious dive into yoga. I determined that in order for my whole life to feel like I felt in and after a yoga class, I would have to make yoga a foundational element of my life. I immersed myself in practicing yoga asana, and also incorporated vipassana meditation practice into my life, and things began to evolve and shift. The life shift quickly led me out of the city and into the foothills of the Berkshires. Once here, I decided to pursue my 200 hour teacher training with Tracy Donahue, who practices and teaches a graceful and intensive vinyasa flow, strongly influenced by both the Jivamukti and Kripalu yoga styles. Initially I just wanted to more deeply explore yoga as a way of life, but somehow as I began to make my life "yoga", teaching just naturally became a part of the fabric. The further I progress forward in my practices and teaching, the more liberated I am from stress and anxiety - the cornerstones of an unhealthy life for me. Because of my own transformation, I firmly believe in the inherent power of all humans to transform themselves for the better, and am grateful to be able to offer up the opportunity for others to access positivity and compassionate living through yoga.
