Kate and her late, great mastiff, Little Miss Vegas
After a hectic chunk of time in the city of Boston, Kate finally decided it was time to make a major life change, and made yoga a foundational block for that shift. She immersed herself in studying and practicing yoga asana, and also incorporated vipassana meditation practice into her life. Kate firmly believes in the inherent power of humans to transform ourselves, and also believes yoga helps us access positive transformation and compassionate living.
Kate's life shift inadvertently led her to the foothills of the Berkshires where she pursued her 200 hour teacher training in Bhava Flow yoga with Tracy Donahue at Bhava Yoga in Brattleboro VT. The Bhava Flow style is a vinyasa based flow practice strongly influenced by both the Jivamukhti and Kripalu yoga styles.
She teaches at Pure Yoga in South Deerfield, Green River Yoga & Movement in Greenfield, leads community yoga classes in Heath, and leads classes in her Yoga Yurt at Abbott's Glen in Halifax, VT.
Kate's goal with the creation of the Highland Studio is to make yoga more readily available to her fellow community members in the hilltowns. Kate's classes are gently rigorous and focus on a balanced series of movements closely aligned to the breath.
In additon to yoga, Kate loves: animals, gardening, putting up food, walking in the woods with her dog, stacking wood, saunas, and cooking with cast iron.
Kate Peppard is the founder and principal teacher at the Highland Studio. She is certified by Yoga Alliance.
